How they look and feel

Harm scars may present in different ways:
+ Linear or parallel patterns
+ Different depths of scarring
+ Areas of altered skin texture
+ Changes in skin sensation
+ Variation in colour from surrounding skin
+ Textural changes that may be more noticeable with movement
Each person's experience with these scars is deeply personal. The appearance of scarring varies depending on healing patterns, location, and individual skin characteristics. Support is available for those seeking to improve the appearance of their scars.

Our Treatment Approach

Following a detailed assessment, we will create a customised treatment plan based on your individual needs. Treatment options include topical therapies, non-ablative and ablative laser resurfacing (both fractional and non-fractional), and, in select cases, surgical revision. Laser therapy can also be combined with laser-assisted drug delivery, such as intradermal steroid treatment, to further improve outcomes.

Empowering scar recovery

Many patients seeking treatment for self-harm scars have already engaged in psychological support, but if not, we warmly welcome a discussion and can offer referrals to experienced psychologists before beginning treatment to ensure a holistic approach to care.

*All procedures carry risks, and individual responses to treatment can vary. While we use evidence-based techniques to significantly improve the appearance and texture of scars, it is important to understand that some degree of scarring will always remain, and complete scar removal is not possible.
